I would have to disagree with the definition of a Crimp. They can be almost no hold at all and still be a Sloper. A Sloper is a hold held with an open hand using the friction between hand and rock to hang on. A straight arm with the body hanging below the Sloper is the easiest way to stay on the rock. A Crimp is a way of grasping the rock. The Crimp is using the tips, the very ends of your fingers to grab the rock.

I tried climbing on a team building day and really enjoyed it. I have since had a couple of lessons, but I’m thinking about whether to invest in my own kit or not. Just wondering where you hire from usually? Are there usually palces to rent kit near good climbing spots (like there’s often cycle hire places near popular cycle routes?) or are they harder to find?
